Super tender in jaw line

Super tender in jaw line

I have a abcessed tooth and dentist has put me on clindamycin.  (been on the meds for only 24hrs) I have also just been diagnosed with strep and family doctor says that since I am on the clindamycin already this should clear up the strep infection as well.  The tooth was very painful a few days ago, but now it does not hurt as much to bite down.  The pain is now in my jaw line and is extremely tender...with or without touch.  Is this a result of the infection moving into my jaw or the lymph nodes in my jaw swelling?  Thank you.

Hi,
It does take three or four days for an antibiotic to start to work.  Chances are the infection is localizing to the spot in your jaw where it probably started.

Do yourself a favor and get some yogurt with live acidophiles in it to counteract any of the negative effects of clindamycin in your tummy.  It has a tendency to kill off all bacteria, including the good ones we have in our bowel.  Yogurt helps to keep things normal.  You'll be glad you did.

The pain around your jaw line should start to go away in a few more days.

Good luck and get that yogurt!
My best to you,
Gellia
