TMD type problem

by wareagle6, Oct 04, 2007 12:00AM
Back in 1993 while having soreness in my jaw I was told by a periodontist that I actually didn't have TMJ but rather an anatomic defect--joint formed like a Z.  Hasn't bother me in years until yesterday.  Always careful to not eat chewy type things--no gum for sure.  Last night it felt as if the jaw was out of "joint" and went from 0-10 in pain quickly.  Do I go see a regular dentist or what should I do now?  It is real sore but isn't acute pain.  I know that there is really not much anyone can do --do I wait this out or do I go see someone?

I would find a dentist that specializes in TMJ dysfunction. You can call your local dental society for a referral or your own dentist.
