Hi all,

Here are my symptoms:

-Pain when eating (teeth, jaw, ear, and nose/sinuses).
-Bilateral temporal and masseter muscle atrophy.
-Clicking/popping noise in right jaw when opening mouth up and down or to the left.

Do these sound like TMJ? The worst part is my cheekbones are protruding so badly due to significant loss of my temporal and masseter muscles. Problem is I can't find ANY post regarding anything I can relate to my specific atrophies. Please help. Thank you.

Additionally, if there is significant muscle atrophy, as you stated, check into rebuilding that muscle via a TENS machine. Chiropractors and I think Physical Therapists use TENS machine and can even sell you a little one for at-home use. This may be a partial solution to the asymmetry of your cheek area. Please write back and let us know how things are going . Good Luck.

Some of your symptoms are typical of a TMJ problem, but some of them sound pretty extreme. I'm concerned that you have another problem that needs medical attention to prevent it from become worse. I'd make an appointment with your dentist asap and get a referral to a TMJ specialist. They will be able to address each and every one of your concerns and provide pain relief as well. Good luck.
