I have seen two Dentists and took xray but they could not find anything. My friend is saying that there is a name for this conditions and can be treated only by pills. Does anyone know what is it called or how can it be treated
So what can be done for 'muscular toothache'? I too have been to 2 dentist (general &
endodontist) & neither could find anything wrong. At times I have pain moving up toward
my eye, but then there is nothing for the rest of the day.
Tks for the reply. The pain is now moved to the upper gums and lower gums specially on left hand side of the mouth and front and lower teeth. I asked my doctor (regulat doctor not dentist) whether it is sinus tootache but he rulled out no. So you guys think I should go to orofacial specialist will help ?
get your bite checked, I had the same thing and its always that my bite is off. it can cause severe, abscess pain. a lot of people think they have an abcessed tooth and their bite is just off. i had this pain since feb and went to my dentist tues. and he said my bite was off and causing the pain, so drilled down my 3 teeth and said since you have been suffering since feb. from this , the membrane of the tooth is inflamed and needs to calm down for the next week. the pain is pretty much gone but my other tooth is now too high and hurts , so i need to get that one filed down.
You may also be hurting your teeth by night time clenching or grinding. It can really hurt!
Do you wake up with your teeth more sensitive? Try to become aware if you are clenching during the day, too.
If you are a night time clencher, a mouth splint can help. If you grind your teeth, a mouth guard may be in order. These are appliances used at night while you sleep.
Also, if your gums have receded at all, it could be that the nerve has been exposed some. Try getting a toothpaste for sensitive teeth. It takes about two weeks of brushing at least twice a day for it to start to work, but the toothpaste can quiet the nerve. You can also rub a small amount right on the gumline where it hurts the most.
And, as others have said, your bite may be off. When you close your mouth, do you feel any place that hits "first"? You teeth should all fit neatly together when you close your mouth.
Other than trying those things, you may be suffering from Trigeminal Nerve irritation.
It's best to see a neurologist about this. There is medication for it but it must be tailored to the individual and monitored.
Hope this helps! Let us know how you do.
