Temporary Crowns & Pain

by MrsBea, Oct 26, 2009 08:30PM
3 1/2 weeks ago I had my teeth bleached and the week later had my 2 front teeth prepped for Lumineers, as well as, both small teeth next to front teeth and both (eye) teeth prepped for crowns.  The forst 2 weeks was terrible and the pain was awful.  Now ( 3 1/2 weeks into this process (waiting for my Lumineers & Crowns to be finished)...I still have pain at the top of the teeth and gumline.  Gums are fine, just taking Motrin for pain relief.  Many moments...I wish I would not have done these procedure...but really didn't have a choice because of my teeth.  It needed to be done.

Question:  Is this what I should expect when the "real" teeth are put into place for the rest of my life?

No.  There shouldn't be any post-operative pain after the procedure.  Sometimes there's some discomfort with the procedure and it may require some healing time but it should gradually get better.  Your temporaries may be poorly fitted at the moment and may need to be adjusted.  I would go back to your dentist and have them look at it.
