Went to Dentist will be a week tomorrow my face still swollen, tender to the touch including the upper lip and left side of my nose have had root canal befor but this has never happened, if I press on my face it sounds like water is moving around. My main concern is they used a medication to clean out the canal called MTAD/Biopure when he injected it "omg" my face felt like it was on fire on that side the dentist said out would be swollen for maybe a day and I may get what looked like a black eye, well the black eye never happened but the pain and swelling is still there including feels like a sinus headach along with my nose feeling like I cant breath right and eyes feel irritated, a bad taste that feels like I burned my tong on something hot. Has anyone had this happen and what can I do to feel better, tried ice,antibotics,ibprophen nothing is helping. HELP

Sorry to hear about your bad experience.  

How's the swelling and pain now?  It seems weird to me that you can feel a bubble in the area?  Do you possible have an air embolism?  But you said it was during the application of the liquid, not air, correct?

You can still find another dentist to finish the work if you don't trust them.  Its always best to find a dentist you're comfortable with and trust.  

What's your insurance, if you don't mind me asking?  Is it a DMO/DHMO or a PPO?

In response to your question nothing was given for the swelling just to apply a ice pack to my face , I was given another antibiotic to take this was to replace the amoxicillin ( allergic to penicillin) this new antibiotic is clindamycin unfortunately could not continue on it due to "BAD,BAD stomach upset, contacted dentist office was told continue with the ice and just stop the medication oh and when can we schedule your next visit to finish the work on the tooth, crown etc. If I didn't have to finish the work I would find another dentist they have given me the impression its all about money they are stating I need a Zirconia crown not covered by my insurance at a cost of 1,250.00 vs the  type my insurance will cover. I have just lost trust with this dentist office due to previous issues of miss billing over billing on things I had to bring to their attention and this issue of the penicillin which was in there computer system. Where did all the good dentists go .

What did they prescribe for you to manage the swelling, etc?

I did a little research and biopure seems to be just a liquid antibiotic that is used to clean the canals prior to closing it.  Have you gone back to contact your dentist at all?
