Throat problems

Generally, after I eat, it feels as though the saliva at the back of my throat thickens, and I go into dry heave spasms, could this be due to plaque, a coated tongue or a symptom of something serious?

Do you have dry mouth?  If so, it may be causing some buildup of food since you don't generate enough saliva to create a bolus (ball) to swallow and its sticking all over your mouth.  Various kinds of medications and diseases can cause dry mouth.  You may want to see your dentist to see if there's a possibility this is causing it.
