Tired Of Wearing A Partial Plate

Tired Of Wearing A Partial Plate

I had to have a partial plate made for a missing tooth due to decay over
the years. I have been wearing it since 1992, and I want to try and get
a tooth implant. A few years ago, adentist told me there was not enough
bone where the plate is to do it. So now I am maybe thinking of doing
it with a bridge attached to the tooth next to it.

Has anyone done this, and if not, how did you do with an implant ?

I don't think there is any way for you to connect a natural tooth to an implant via a bridge.  You can bridge from implant to implant, but a natural tooth has too much "give" whereas an implant virtually has none.  The bridge would continually fracture and it could possibly loosen the implant.

Is there a possibility that you could get a bone graft to hold an implant?
Your teeth on either side of it must also be healthy for an implant to integrate.  I had to have four implants placed when only one tooth was the problem.

There usually is a solution to not wearing a partial if you want to go to the lengths necessary to stop.  That may be multiple implants, but you won't know unless you go for a consult with someone qualified to place them (I recommend you go to a Board Certified Oral Surgeon) .  They could also tell you whether what you propose is at all possible, too.

Hope this helps.
Best to you,
