Tooth Pain from Temporary Crown

by Duri, Mar 10, 2006 12:00AM
I am waiting for a similiar answer as Susan. I had a tooth filling crack several months ago and probably let it go for too long. About three weeks ago it really starting hurting right in the center of the tooth where the filling was broken, the tooth edge had also cracked. Yesterday (3/9), I went to the dentist. She said that I had No Tooth Decay and the tooth loked ok and was preping it for a crown. I explained to her that I have been experiencing a great deal of pain in the toth when eating. I got the temp crown and I am still experiencing a great deal of pain when i eat something where I am biting down of the tooth with food. My gums feel fine. I am concerned because when she gave me the novicane X2 I could still feel tremendous pain when she was drilling for the temp crown and I am now feeling the same pain as i did (when biting on food) before the temp crown. I am taking soem IBprofin to help with the throbing after eating and this does seem to settle everything down. This is not a sensation reaction to cold or hot...it is pain when pressing something between the upper and lower tooth. The toth is the lower left bottom molar. I'm not a wossie and usually just take the pain but I am concerned that their are other problems...I hope just an aggravated nerve that will settle down, thank you Bob

Bob you and Sue should get together.I think that a temp should be comfortable enough for you to function with it. I don't like the fact that you can not bite on it.I would certainly not permanently cement the crown with the symtoms you are experiencing.
