Tooth Tingle, Simple or Complicated?

Tooth Tingle, Simple or Complicated?

Last Tuesday, I had a root canal performed on a lower molar on the right side of my jaw.  (Number 30, I think)

According to the Doctor, it went very well and I am lucky as I have/had low discomfort.  There was some tenderness and stiffness from the procedure but very, very mild.  I didn't even bother to take over the counter pain meds.

In the last 3 or 4 days, I have noticed a "tingle" from one of my teeth, right above the one that was worked on.  I only notice at times when I move my jaw or talk.  It isn't even close to pain, just very, very slight tingle, but noticeable. It feel like it is right at the tip of the tooth. I suppose I notice it more now as I am paranoid due to latest dental adventure. It only becomes noticeable when there is some sort of movement of my jaw neck or neck or quick bouncing of my head.  I do have some old fillings there but I cant tell if they are the source, just in the area and worth mentioning for the sake of

(Example:  Drying my head with towel out of the shower, rubbing and bumpin, sometimes I will feel it.)

I have tested cold and hot fluids and nadda.
Eating does not bother me it all either.  (Mind you, I still have a temporary filling so eating is more honorary mention)
Brushing teeth has no effect either.   When I do feel the tingle, its quick and fleeting.  No more than  a second or 2.

It comes down to 2 ideas of thought for me.

1)  There is some nerve sensitivity from my recent dental work and it is what it is.  Hopefully, go away on its own.

2)  I have a separate problem and I struck with incredible bad luck of a bad coincidence .

So my question to anyone willing to weigh in, what are the chances of #1 happening?  Related...  or am I way off base and its unrelated.

Very soon I have to go in for my crown fitting and I plan on asking them but that is still a week or 2 away.

Thanks for your time and input.

Your description appears to be related to a rare condition known as pretrigeminal neuralgia. Seeing an orofacial pain specialist or neurologist is advised.

Thanks for the quick response.  I did some research and it sounds like a possibility.  I think though it may have more to do with the procedure of the root canal and possibly inflammation of the nerve. or something like that.

I hope so, as that should start, or hopefully start to clear up as it is now one week since the procedure.  Today, the sensation has decreased.   It would just be a serious  stroke of bad luck to have another tooth go bad RIGHT after I get one fixed, which keep in mind, this tooth or neighboring teeth (sometimes felt the tingle in), are directly above the one that was worked on.

I have an appointment to the crown set some time early next week.  I will have them take a peek and see if there is anything abnormal.   If it gets worse, or the sensation changes, I might go see a dentist just to have it checked.

All though if anyone reads this and has an idea, I am all for it.   I do not have a regular dentist and I admit, I dont have too much trust as I have been lied to before like a bad auto mechanic.   More I learn the better I feel about it.

Thanks again
