Tooth extraction

I m 67 years old male, had Trigeminal neuralgia at 17 on right side of face.
in 1965got operated at 19.  Two branches V2&V3 were cut since than no pain, but half face is permanently NUMB.
recently the dentist has advised me to extract one tooth in the mandibular division on left side.
I m frightened to have it out as it may INJURE MY healthy Trigeminal nerve
Another Dentist has advised for root canal but u hear that root canal has lot of complication.
My question is which is better to have the tooth extracted or undergo root canal?
Thanks

In terms of your trigeminal neuralgia, I don't think either procedure should complicate your condition at this point.  It depends on the prognosis of the root canal and whether or not they think it'll hold up after the root canal is done versus removing the tooth and not having to worry about the longevity of the tooth anymore.

Thanks for ur reply.  I have developed some infection on tooth extracted side £ m on Amoxcillin 500mg x 3 times a day for 7 days.
The dentist has Asked me to wait for a month before the implants for 3 missing teeth.  2 on left side & 1 on right side all in mandibular div
But I have heard that for imPlant a drilling in the bone is done.  Does this not injure the bone also may lead to bleeding and possible infection?

A dental implant is similar to an extraction in terms of trauma to the tissue.  Yes, some minor treatment will be needed to place the implant in but the healing is much faster than an extraction since there will be no socket to close up.  You should be numb during the procedure so there shouldn't be any sensation except maybe some pressure.

Thanks for ur reply.  I have had the tooth out about 4 hours back.
Put some ice pack on the swollen left jaw.  The numbness has just worn out
And I m feeling the pain now.   I have taken the gauge out.  Just taken Ibuprofen 400mg with half glass of  water.
My dentist has called after 4 days for implants I have 3 tooth missing now.
Does implant have complication because I hear that some drilling of jaw bone is required for implants.    It sounds so frightening. I would appreciate ur opinion.
