Toothache

Hey guys, I'm just wondering if anyone can help me out here. I've had a toothache for the last 2-3 weeks that has been rather.. well.. weird.. It hurts mostly at nights.. I bearly ever feel it in the morning.. and it gets worse as the day goes on.  its 4 am my time and i cant sleep because of how bad it is.. I've been doing some searching and i cant find anything that really fits it.

It doesnt hurt to touch, No swelling or anything that i can see.. I do have a cavity near the tooth.(My dental health isnt great unfortunately but ive never had any type of pain) I dont have any of the common symptoms with infection except the sharp pain. I've been keeping the pain down with pain pills and chewing on ice makes the pain go away completely for awhile.

I scheduled to go see a denist but im really curious as to what it could be

Well the cause of pain is tooth sensitivity. As you said pain starts only as the day goes on, its only because you intake food and it shows its reaction at night. You should immediately consult a dentist before its too late. He might give you a better idea.
