How long do they normally last? Should i just consider getting composite crowns instead?

There is probably no large sample data to predict the longevity of porcelain laminate veneer.If the data does exist, it may not be reliable. The critical issue is , personal experience and skill is an important factor. In addition, pretreatment evaluation of cosmetic demand is critical, instead of choice of restoration method.

Is there a big difference in prices between types of veneers? I just really don't feel comfortable talking to my dentist, i feel like he is a salesman.

There is no difference of charge for procelain laminate veneer in my practice. However, each practice is different. If you do'nt feel comfortable with your private dentist, you may seek second opinion.

I have found the same thing as scottma, usually there is little different in price. If you want to get a good idea of the actual average price of veneers check out this website.
