Vision distortion from Injection

Vision distortion from Injection

I was having work done on a cavitiy and a tooth that was being prepped for a crown. Both were on the very back and upper right jaw. The dentist injected me and after just 15 seconds or so I felt the electrical shock through my upper cheek, nose, eyes, and face. After opening my eyes one eye (on the right side) was very distorted, like it was tilted to the left and I couldn't see straight out of my eyes for about 5 minutes. It was really really terrifying. What happened and is it normal? Does it mean there may be something wrong with me or was it the dentist making a mistake? And will there be any permanent damage? By the way, two weeks after that appointment now I am still bruised on that side of my face and was swollen for over a week. Is that normal? Thanks!

Not completely sure.  My guess is that the dentist may have injected too far.  You may want to consult with your dentist or ask your primary care physician.

Also, the oral surgeon in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery forum on medhelp.org may be able to provide more insight.
