Weird nerve signal sent to wrong place after surgery

Okay so I realize this is not dental related per se but I thought I would ask here since it's similar to tooth extraction and such so maybe I can find people who feel the same thing. I cannot find any information on this on the net and my doctor acted surprised when I told him like he had never heard of it...
So a few months ago I had chin surgery done intraorally and everything seemed to have healed fine. Except now I have a very weird feeling that seems to have something to do with the nerves being damaged. When I touch  a very specific spot in my lower gum right under one of my tooth, I can feel a small electric shock in my lip. But I'm touching my gum, not my lip! It's like the signal is being sent to the wrong place. I touch that spot on my gum, and I can feel something tingling in my lip, although they are not touching, and I'm not touching my lip at all. It's a really weird feeling, not hurtful but very annoying. I feel it when I eat and brush my teeth when I pass over that spot.
Has anyone ever felt something like this, does it go away on its own, or is there something to be done?

ok thanks a lot, I will wait, it's only been 6 months so I guess I should be more patient and stop playing with it... but yes, very strange sensation!

I've had the exact thing. I think it must be common. It is a very strange sensation to feel something in another part of your face. Mine was caused after i had numbness where the needles went in, when i was having teeth removed. I'm not sure exactly how long it was like that, many months for sure.  I stopped playing with it, after 6 weeks or so, and didn't notice when exactly it went away on its' own. I'd be surprised if your dentist can do anything about it. but you can ask the next time you go in. Anyways, yeah, it goes away. (in my case anyway). Good news!!!!
