White spots on my teeth

White spots on my teeth

Well....recently i have started to brush my teeth about 3 times a day (about 2 minutes each time)

and my teeth were really yellow......and i've been brushing now for about a month with some whitening toothpaste (aquafresh white and shine)

until recently i've noticed my teeth are getting white blotches.....near the gum area and the buttom of the front part of the tooth....
i was just wondering if this is the yellow (plaque) just chipping off or if im brushing to hard or something.....

i dont know whether to be excited that my teeth are turning white or to be concerned that there turning white....
HAHA!

Yup, I can empathize with your confusion.  Your teeth are becoming whiter after using the whitening toothpaste, but the results are patchy and some exactly pleasing to the eye.

In fact, you shouldn't expect significant and even whitening through brushing with toothpastes, regardless whether they are the normal variety or purportedly specially formulated for tooth whitening purpose.

Most of the time, you'd need to undergo teeth bleaching either at the dentist, or using self-administered whitening gels in mouthguards.  The whitening toothpastes can be used as a form of "maintenance", to ensure a longer whitening result after the teeth bleaching works.

Whitening toothpastes can be rather abrasive and bad for your tooth enamel.  Look at the toothpaste label, if the listed content includes silica or aluminium oxide, it gives a clue of its abrasiveness.  Did you know that "silica" is the scientific term for "sand"?  So, you may be scrub, scrub, scrubbing away your tooth and gums, together with the dental plaque.

and got a free report on tooth whitening.  I've just read a quarter of the report, and found it very informative so far.  There are some shocking tooth whitening facts, stuff I never got to know from the dentist.  The report is really quite balanced and unbiased.

It's supposedly valued at $37, but I think it's free for a limited period.  So grab yours while the offer lasts.  It'll answer your questions better than I can.

:)  Good luck with your quest for whiter teeth!
