White spots on toddler's tongue

My 19 month old son awoke in extreme discomfort because of white dots all over his tongue.  I noticed his mouth was bothering him shortly before bedtime, but attributed it to teething. I gave him Ibuprophen before discovering the dots, and that seemeed to help him enough to go back to sleep.   What are these dots?  It doesn't look anything like the photos of thrush - just a whole lot of white dots.

I am not sure without seeing them but I think they should be looked at by your doctor and if the doctor is unsure get the opinion of an oral surgeon.

I am not sure either but my son had the same thing it turned out he had oral thrush. we used a oral gel for thrush and it helped alot. i'd recomend seeing a doctor to get it checked because it can be very distresing to them as it is for us.
