Whitening

Whitening

I am extremely careful about taking care of my teeth and have always received routine dental care. I have never had any work done to my teeth other than the routine cleanings and exams. I am using the whitening trays and gel (22% strength gel) from the dentist, however, I do not want to overdo the whitening and cause damage to my teeth/gums. How often can I safely do the whitening and not cause any harm to my teeth?

I'm assuming its 22% carbamide peroxide?  You can start off slowly and use it for about 1/2 an hour and see how that works for you.  If there's no sensitivity, you can increase it to about an hour and see how you do with that.  You can always contact your dentist to get specific instructions on the time recommendation and other instructions.
