Wisdom Teeth Extraction, while on meds for a Viral infection

by Fran G., Sep 10, 2006 12:00AM
My daughter is scedualed to get her wisdom teeth extracted soon. This appointment was secedualed a few weeks back. A few days ago (one week from dental appointment for teeth extraction) I had to take her to the doctors for a sore throat (very painfull and red) She was told she had a Viral Infection that could last for a while and really nothing they could do for her. Because her throat was really raw, they gave her 800mg Motrin for the pain and Amox. even though they said it most likely would not help much due to the fact that it was not a throat infection.
My question is this...Because she has this viral infection should we rescedual her Dental Appointment to get her Wisdom teeth out?

I would suggest you see how she is feeling. If she has a fever or in general is not feeling well then I think it would be a good idea to cancel. If the only symptom is a sore throat then she probably have it done. You could call the oral surgeon and get the doctors opinion.

this is a question for the oral surgeon who will see your daughter. oral surgeons are not just "tooth pullers". they have years and years of medical training.
