Wisdom teeth

My left upper wisdom tooth starting hurting sunday night and has been hurting all week. Its more sore than anything, it only hurts after eating. It has made the left side of my throat and jaw sore and it hurts to open my mouth. I also have tmj and I think the wisdom tooth is makin the tmj worse. I went to the dentist yesterday and wa told i needed them out and that he didnt think i had an infection, but gave me clindmycin just incase. He said it is more likely the pressure from the tooth. My question is, does this sound like an infection or just major diacomfort from the tooth??? The dentist seem to be a quak so I dont know much, other than I need them out. Also, I would like to only be sedated for surgery, will I have to be put to sleep with general anesthesia or can I op to have laughing gas and local anesthesia??
