Wisdom tooth extraction pain or tooth infection?

hope you can help... I went to the dentist recently and dentist said that I had some decay on my wisdom teeth and that he wanted to pull them to stop infection and spreading he sent me to get an opg xray (I think that's what it's called) and when I went back he told me I had a really bad infection under the tooth in front of my bottom right wisdom tooth and it would need root canal treatment as the infection is really close to the jaw bone... I had no pain in that tooth but I thought back to a few months prior when I was having painful aches in my jaw, it felt like I couldn't open my mouth and so it made sense... Ok I said do it... but then he went ahead and removed the wisdom tooth behind the infected tooth... I was confused but trusted his judgment... he sent me home with no antibiotics and no idea when he will working on the infected tooth. At the time I wasn't worried but since having the wisdom tooth pulled I have had excruciating pain... it's been four days and pain and swelling is still really bad... I spoke to my mother in law whom is a nurse and she said I really should be on antibiotics... I'm worried the infection has speed from my tooth to other areas... am I right in assuming that the removal of my wisdom tooth may have caused the infection from the tooth in front of it to spread? I have a tingling feeling through my entire right side of my jaw, up to my lips and below nose. my neck and jaw are swollen and I noticed some blotchy redness... if I don't take nurofen and Panadol the pain is unbearable and stretches from where the infected tooth is to my ear, to the front of my mouth and under my nose. I also have a head ache... I'm just freaking out cause I don't know what the normal pain for a wisdom tooth extraction is and whether I should be worried about the infection and lack of antibiotics to treat it...

Hello!

The extraction of wisdom teeth can be painful. I assume that you are still following precautions such as the recommended foods to eat and the procedure for cleaning the affected area. Continue to follow these for the recommended period.

For the infected tooth, I'd recommend contacting the dentist, to confirm that you are being treated for the infected tooth.

I hope you feel better soon!
