Wisdom tooth removal after 4 years of detection

I started having trouble with my wisdom tooth 4 years before. I had a small lump then and the doctor prescribed antibiotics. The pain vanished but I think the problem is still there. I recently could feel the sharp edge of my upper wisdom tooth on my fingers, when I tried to touch the tooth through the side of my mouth. I can't see it myself. I have a slight pain when I touch the tooth. I think Iam having an infection. I have two small babies. I am breastfeeding my 6-month-old. Can I have a surgery at this point of time? Also, I am yet to take a health Insurance. Please advise.

What you're feeling is one of your wisdon teetth erupting thru the gum which is actually good.  If the pain you feel is the gum around the tooth (and it should be) then it will improve once the top of the tooth erupts (just like a baby). If it's actually the tooth, then you need to see your dentist.  You can't be on antibiotics while breastfeeding. But I have all my wisdom teeth, so make sure it is the tooth hurting and not the gum before acting. Take your temperature 2 x a day to determine if an infection is starting, and if you start running a fever, stop breastfeeding and see your dentist.
