Wisdom tooth removal and high fever throat infection

Hi Doc,

I am 36, male. I had persistent sore throat 1 month ago, that was cured with zitromax antibiotics. 1 day of fever. However the sore throat came back after a week on either side of the throat, and would go away on its own without fever or phlem, leaving me less energetic as before. Went to my local clinic when 1 side of throat began to hurt but no fever and they prescribed another 5 days of antibiotics and the sore throat went away.

however my left side of throat began to feel slightly sore and i notice my tonsil on my left side begin to have white spots. Around the same time i found some food deposits in my lower wisdom tooth that was decayed and smelled bad. Removed it and decided to see the dentist

2 days ago i went to dentist to find out if the lower 3rd molar wisdom tooth was the cause of this repeated 1 sided sore throats, at this time 1 side of the throat where the wisdom tooth was had white spots

the dentist showed me that my 3rd molar at top was decayed with smelled bad. So we decided to extract it, some bleeding occurred and by end of the day i got a 102.5 /39.5 fever.

took 2 tylenol to reduce the fever and went to my local clinic and she said both sides of my tonsils where fully white. prescribed zmax liquid on the spot and clarithromycin 500mg once a day. after few hours my fever was gone for the whole day but returned the following day at 101.5/ 38.5 fever.

so my question is

1. is repeated 1 sided sore throat caused by decaying matter in mouth?
2. do i need to change my medication or continue and wait and see the outcome?
3. when should i go to the clinic again?

thanks,
Terry

Have you seen a regular physician in regards to your tonsils?  You may have inflammation or an infection in your tonsil that may be causing the problem.  I'm not sure if the wisdom tooth is the cause of the infection although it does sound like it needed to come out sooner than later since it would eventually become a source of pain.
