X-rays/Impressions

by Meerkat220, Nov 01, 2009 07:42AM
I have to have dental x-rays and molds taken of my teeth (for possible implants or crowns).  I really struggle with these procedures with gagging and feeling like I am choking.  Does anyone have any tips to help me cope with x-rays or impressions?

You can ask  your dentist to apply some top[ical anesthetics on gag reflex trigger zone, which is commonly located on posterior soft palate and base of tongue. After 3-5 minutes, gag reflex will be greatly reduced. In addition, while these procedures are performed, you can bend your head down, (trying to make your chin touching your chest)
this maneuver also will reduce gag reflex.
