Yellow Tongue

by maggy838, Apr 08, 2009 11:29PM
I recently was in the car with a friend when he noticed that my tongue was yellow. I started paying attention to it and noticed it was yellow everyday. What could be some possibilities why my tongue is yellow? And what are some of there symptoms?

How threatening is having a yellow tongue? And how easy can it be treated?

Yellow color may come from extrinsic stain, such as, food, drink, or chromogenic bacteria. Intrinsic yellow color may come from consuming too much carrot or food containg beta-carotene, or jaundice.

It could be from drinking coffee.  Use a tongue scrapper and use every time you brush. Some toothbrushes come with a tongue scrapper, but they don't work well.  Just be careful when using the tongue scrapper because you can gag easily.  Good luck!!!
