adult tooth behind baby tooth

adult tooth behind baby tooth

I'm 30 and my canine grew behind my baby tooth.  The baby tooth has felt somewhat loose for quite sometime, but never fell out.  I want to have this tooth pulled, but my adult canine is behind my teeth on the bottom so I would appear to have a gap or a missing tooth.  This baby tooth is starting to yellow.  My question is do you think a retainer can fix this, or will I have to get braces on the top row?  Otherwise my teeth are straight.  Any thoughts or suggestions would be great!
