bite problem after dental crown

bite problem after dental crown

I just had a temporary dental crown placed on tooth #24. After the procedure, I felt my bite was off, but didn't know exactly what until I got home. Now that I have tried to eat something, I see that the front of tooth #25 hits the back of tooth #8. I bite down completely because of this malocclusion. I read some articles that said it was normal for the tooth that the crown was placed to have this problem, but for me it's not the tooth with the crown, but the one next to it! I don't go back to the dentist for almost a week for the permanent crown. Is this something that I can just deal with until then, or should I request to come in earlier? What will he do to correct this?

That's odd.  So your bite on your temporary crown is fine but the tooth next to it is now hitting the upper tooth.  Usually if the temporary is short, the other teeth, as a group, will meet and bite so if one is shortened, it usually won't affect the bite in any way.  You may want to go back to see what happened.  Its possible they were doing some dental work to build up the core (sort of like a filling) and maybe some of it got stuck on your #25, resulting in an odd bite.
