bleeding around a crown

bleeding around a crown

I had a root canal treatment for two teeth and when I floss near them they begin to bleed. My dentist told me they are poorly fitted crowns but didn't touch them when I went for a scaling. Should I get new crowns? Also it's been awhile since I last went for a scaling, and I do bleed around other teeth. Would the bleeding near the crowns be the same thing as the bleeding around the other teeth.

It could be if its due to gingivitis or periodontal disease.  If the crowns are poor fitting, why not replace them with a proper fitting crown?

There are several things that could be causing the bleeding around your crown. If you've had the crown for awhile (which I am guessing you have) you could have some decay going on up under the crown and working it's way down the root of the tooth, which has the tissue inflamed and irritated causing the bleeding. It's common in teeth with crowns, especially when patients aren't ardent flossier.
