bleeding during second visit for root canal

by ange07, Oct 25, 2009 06:04PM
2 days ago i went to remove temp for root canal. i told her molar wasn't hurting but i couldn't put any pressure on it. she removed the temp, did an x ray and she noticed that my tooth had only heal from one side???(other side was bleeding a little and the x ray showed a little white circle under my tooth and in the middle it looked a little dark. but white circle wasn't there before in my first check up) so she put more medication and put a temp back on and told me to come next week. she didn't give me more ampenicillin because i had already taken it for 1 week and said it was dangerous for my liver so she told me to just take Excedrin. the next day my gum's were swollen but it was bearable pain. not like the first time i went. soo...do you think they are doing a good job? im scared of getting an extraction....im only 22!!!

So they didn't finish the root canal?  Or was it completed already and there was a temporary inside the tooth with you returning to the dentist for a crown later on?  If it wasn't completed, I would imagine that your dentist should re-enter the canal and try to clean it out again.  If that doesn't work, a referral to an endondontist (root canal specialist) may be needed.
