bone fragmentation?

bone fragmentation?

Hi,  I have had this issue for a few years and it has seemed to get progressively worse.  I have large bumps that feel like bone protruding out of my jaw and into my tongue.  They have never broken the skin but they do make it very uncomfortable to talk and have worn grooves into my tongue.  I went to a dentist a few years ago to see what the problem was and how to fix it.  He told me it was bone fragmentation coming out of my jaw and to not worry, that there was nothing to be done about it.  Is he correct?  These lumps just get bigger and protrude farther up into my mouth.

Thanks

You probably have torus mandibularis, which is generally harmless. However, if it does affect your oral function, you may see an oral surgeon to remove tori surgically.
