circular blotches on tongue

I have circular blotches on my tongue.  When I eat acidic foods my tongue stings/burns. (even just one bite of tomatoes)  This has been an ongoing problem the last couple of years.  My tongue will look like it has missing spots of taste buds and then eventually heal itself only to happen again.  This time however is the most circle patches I have ever seen at once.  I am wondering if this is cause for concern and what it could be?  Pictures included.

I would recommend going to a dentist to get it checked out.

It looks and sounds like geographic tongue to me.  Its also known as benign migratory glossitis.  Usually it doesn't have any symptoms but sometimes it can be associated with a burning tongue sensation.
