crown discomfort

3 weeks ago I had 3 permanent crowns installed.  I have had root canals on all 3. I now have sensation to heat in 2 of them, and permanent discomfort in one of them which worsens when chewing(this is one of the heat sensitive ones).  The 3rd is not acting up as much.  My dentist said occlusion could be a problem and did some adjusting, but the sensations continue.  Should I see endodoncist to verify root canals, or use special toothpaste for sensitive teeth?  How long should I wait for sensitivity to go away? I was happy with my temporary crowns; no discomfort, no sensitivity.  Is it possible crowns don't fit well?  Can these be removed? Thanks for your assistance.

I would give it a month to calm down and if it doesn't I would consult your dentist or an endodontist. Yes, the crowns can be cut off.The toothpaste would not do any good because there is no nerve present in any of those three teeth. The fit of the crowns has nothing to do with sensitivity to hot. Usually that indicates that there are gases present in the tooth which expand when you have something hot causing the discomfort.

There should be no temperature sensation in teeth that have been root canaled.  The bite could be affecting the crown that is chewing sensitive, or it could be a problem with the nerve if it hasn't been root canaled or the root canal if it has.  A problem with the fit of the crown wouldn't really be causing a problem with the chewing sensitivity.

Sensitivity toothpaste might not help with the chewing sensitivity.  You might wish to go back to the dentist to let them know something is still not right.
