crown lengthening and crowns

crown lengthening and crowns

I had crown lengthening and crown. It all started when my tooth broke off July 19th. Its been about two weeks since the crown (9/13) and I have pain when biting on crunchy food or meat of any kind. It also seems to be really sensitive when I floss in just one area. I also have a salty taste in my mouth. I use sensitive toothpaste and I am so tired of eating just soft foods. I called my dentist and his office told me that the tooth had be tramatized and that I should wait to see if things settle down. I think something is wrong with the crown - my dentist used the cerec crown. My question is should I be still having pain? I have had two cracked teeth so I know how that feels and it is the same feeling when I chew on that tooth. I just am so frustrated because it has been such a long ordeal. Could something be wrong with the cerec crown?

You should not be having pain when you bite. Did the tooth have a root canal? was that considered? If the tooth is not showing any improvement then a visit to your dentist is in order. Also make sure that you are not impacting any food between the teeth. When you floss there should be resistance otherwise the contact is open and that has to be corrected.

each case is different. yours depends on the severity of the fracture, the quality of work that was done, includig the crown lengthening, and your periodontal situatio. i'fd give it another week, and if you are not bettter I'd get an opinion from a dentist you are referred to by family or friends who is not involved in your current care-- that way the opinion will be unbiased.
