crown pain

by Stormy3232, Mar 09, 2008 03:00PM
Over a month ago, when my dentist was taking off my temp crown, the build-up including a filling came with it.  He went ahead and glued the permanent crown on.  Since that time, I have had terrible tooth pain.  I was advised to have a root canal by a specialist which I did two weeks ago.  Still the tooth with the crown is so painfull it cant be touched and is sensitive to being brushed.  After a round of antibotics and then a round of steriods, I dont know what to do next. What could possilbly be the cause?

Based on information provided, your symptoms could be 3 possiblities: 1: post endodontic treatment sensitivity, which may last 2-4 weeks.: 2: fracture of crown and/or root.3: occlusal trauma from new restoration.
