crowns

Why do they not do root canals before they do a crown? I had a crown put in, and now the dentist tell me I might need a root canal, because I cannot bite down when I chew, and he has already ground the crown down. I am in pain, and do not understand why the first procedure was not done . Now I have to get the crown taken off, and then get another crown put in. What if it still hurts. After all this pain and discomfort, and not to forget the cost. I do not have insurance. A crown is 1300 dollars and a root canal is 1100.

I have the same issues.  I had a tooth become absess (abscess) about 6 months after the crown/bridge was put on.  I was just told that I have two more now.  It hasn't been more than a year and a half since the original work was completed.  It is hard to understand.  I think something happened during the procedure for the crown that damaged the root.  Just my opinion.
