You may also want to look into veneers.  They are even less invasive than a crown.

Please check with a good cosmetic dentist.  They will be able to direct you to achieve your best possible smile.

Good luck and best wishes on your wedding.

It really isn't painful at all.  I had to have my four top front teeth out after running into a plate glass door.  They did the extractions with novocaine and nitrous oxide and then the implants went in at the same time.  It didn't hurt at all.

I had a bit of swelling around the third day but it went down quickly after that.  Pain was minimal.  I used a removable metal partial for the time it took for the implants to integrate, about 7 months.

Then the healing caps were placed.  They open the gum and place caps into the implant to help form the gumline.  Impressions were done then for my crowns.  As soon as they were finished, I went and had them cemented in place and I was finished!  Whole process took from October to the following June.

I have been very happy with my implants.  They do require maintenance.  Good home oral hygiene is super important and so is professional cleanings every three months or so depending on what your dentist wants.

I've had my implants for nearly three years now and couldn't be happier.

If you are planning this for only cosmetic reasons, why not just consider crowning the top front four instead of getting implants placed?  The results would be the same cosmetically but you would use your natural teeth as the post instead of an implant and abutment.  Unless there is a problem with your natural teeth this would be a quicker, simpler and less invasive procedure, not to mention cheaper.  My four implants, abutments, crowns and the partial I had to use wound up costing about $4500 per tooth.  Crowns would only run around $1200 to $1800 (in my area) each.  Crowns over natural teeth can also last a lifetime with proper care which you would have to do anyway.

Unless there is something wrong with the root of your teeth, I urge you to consider this instead of having normal healthy teeth pulled.

Good luck in whatever you decide.
Best to you,
Gellia

Hi,
Do you mean implants?  Implants are a permanent solution to replace lost teeth.  They are titanium screws that are placed where the tooth has been removed and then allowed to heal (osseo integration).  The healing process can take a few months so normally a dental prostheses (denture) is used while they do.

After they have fully integrated into the bone, an abutment (post type piece) is placed into the implant and a crown goes over this.  There are three pieces to most implants.  The implant screw, the abutment, and then the crown.  There are usually separate charges for each piece.

Length of time from start to finish can take up to a year depending on how many teeth are removed and how many implants are placed, and the success of each.  Normally it's one implant per removed tooth, but there are mini implants that can hold full sets of dentures or implant supported bridges that also can be used, rather than each singly.

Implants do require dental maintenance, but with proper care and upkeep (excellent oral hygiene at home and regular professional cleanings), implants can last a lifetime.  Crowns may have to be replaced if broken.

Total costs for implants, abutments and crowns can range from a total of approximately $3500 to $5000 per implanted tooth.

Hope this helps.
Best to you,
Gellia
