dentist fault or patient?

dentist fault or patient?

I had a crown put on a tooth that I had a root canal in. I told the dentist it felt really high. After a few attempts to correct it I could no longer feel what was correct anymore. He invited me to come back in if I still felt the crown was high. after a couple months I returned and told him it was still quite high. He used the blue paper to see where to adjust and went to it. After a few spots of drilling I couldn't feel properly to be absolute. He sent me home with same comments. I am a really busy person and have a hard time going to him very frequently. A couple of months later I again told him it felt high. We went through the same procedure. I should mention that the gum line was irritated each time and inflamed.  A month went by and I was not feeling comfortable with the tooth, the gum was the same and now the tooth was wiggling. I am concerned that the root has been broken. I returned for him to inspect and he said taking an xray would be a mute point since he would have to remove the crown no matter what. I paid for that visit. Now, I am scheduled to go back in a couple days and wonder should I discuss payment with him and that I don't feel responsible? I just feel that if a high crown can cause so much damage why wouldn't he tell me not to let too much time pass... also, shouldn't he know it was still high from that paper stuff? Please advise.

Its hard to be exact with a bite adjustment because the paper indicates where the teeth touch but it doesn't necessarily indicate how hard its hitting in a particular spot.  Usually with adjustments though, we depend on the patient to inform us how they feel.  You can also check the spots to make sure they are in the proper spots.  With your high bite, a new crown may need to be made. You should discuss your concern with your dentist and I'm sure that if you're polite and understanding about it, your dentist will be the same.
