denture u-tuturn hurting

I've had a new full denture being fitted since 16/11/2010. It was badly fitted and hurts. It stopped hurting 2 adjustments ago though the denture tends to dropped from the right hand side when food was put in. But I acquired an infection and the swelling of my lower gum was out of control. So i went to see my doctor and he gave me some antibiotic and took care of the swelling. After the treament, I told my dentist there was improvement as to the dropping. He made some adjustment. It hurts ever more again and it tends to drop in the middle area of the upper denture. Is it usual for a denture fitting to make a U-turn for the worse.and hurts again? he said he will get someone to rebase the denture. Does it mean he will restart the fitting all over again? What should I do?
