getting adhesive

This discussion is related to Cement a crown - do it yourself?.


Why not I reglue my broken tooth? ... it broke on the corner .. is not really that unconfortable .. and it could be glued back in place ... ?  why not? ... how can i find some adhesive ... dental suppy houses won't sell small amounts or because i am not a registed dentist ...

The dentist probably would reattach it just like you want to.  I assume that the product isn't sold openly because it would be used in the wrong circumstances ultimately making a persons dental health worse. While I don't recommend it, I heard that a temporary filling is available at rite-aids eckards, I didn't look into it myself, I didn't want any junk in the wat when the dentist examined my tooth. I assume "temporary filling" probably has a lower catalyst ratio making it not as adhesive and long lasting. I also assume that the temporary filling is the same basic resin used in bonding but with the concentration, I presume, of the catalyst altered. This would probably result in your chip coming off sooner if you do it yourself and it potentially becoming lost.
