MY DENTIST TOLD ME THAT I HAVE A GRANULOMA ON MY GUM AND SHE MENTION TO ME THAT SHE COULD CUT IT OFF, I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF IT IS BEST TO GET A BIOPSY FIRST OR ANOTHER DOCTORS OPINON

There are pyogenic granuloma and peripheral giant cell granuloma. Pyogenic granuloma is much more common.
There are two types of biopsy, incisional biopsy and excisional biopsy.If the lesion is not too large, excisional biopsy is the treatment of choice. In the oral cavity, excional biopsy is generally the treatment of choice for benign lesion .The excised tissue is generally submitted to pathologic lab for microscopic exam. Pyogenic granuloma tends to bleed heavily, however, hemostais can be adequately achieved by proper suturing.

think of it like a suspicious mole. they usually are better to remove it and then test it. its a pretty simple procedure to remove the granuloma and nothing to be worried about.
