gum odor

third time hd crown removed and replaced. reason, bad odor coming from point where gum meets tooth. no odor anywhere else even though i have several crowns. this is the right side canine which has a "post". no problem with the "temps" even after six weeks but put the"real" crown in and stinko after a few days. same dentist. could this be from the cement???

Probably not from the cement, especially if you have other crowns  with that cement.  Usually the odor is from either decay or periodontium.  Make sure there is no decay by the post.  Are you a smoker?

I had had this problem for approximately two years, with no relief.  Additionally, I was prescribed periostat for this problem, and had some work done around the gum line.  However, theis problem persists.  I am at my wits end.  The crown is on the upper right, I believe a canine tooth.   If anyone knows anything, your response would be sincerely appreciated. This is very very distressing
