gum pain years after tooth extractions

I have had four teeth removed all at different times. The gums hurt where the teeth are missing. If I eat steak or chips it hurts bad. I went to the dentist and he said that it appears as if my gums are burnt. He suggested partials. What could be causing this pain? They hurt just to touch. Its been two years since the first extraction.

Thank you. I did not have stitches. i don't know about a blood clot in the sockets. Im allergic to amitriptyline. Do I need a referral to an orafacial pain specialist?

Your descriptions suggest trigeminal dysfunctional pain of edentulou ridge. Periodic administration of local anesthesia without epinephrine and /or systemic administration of gabapenti/amitriptline may solve your complaints. Seeing an Orofacial pain specialist is advised.

Did u have blood clot forming in the socket at the time of the extraction? And was it done with or without stiches?

I can't eat lots of food due to gum pain. Been to specialists. No cure yet. I just avoid food that hurts me.
