Hi,
If your lymph node has become swollen you may want to give your dentist a call back.
He may want to see you again and you may need antibiotics.  Lymph nodes filter infection and swell when infection is normally present.  They can take a long time to reduce in size once the infection is gone though.

Was this node swollen before you saw your dentist?  If so, it may just be residual.  If not, a call to your dentist would be in order.

Hope this helps.  Try rinsing your mouth with warm salt water, too.

Best to you,
Gellia

Hi,
Your neck pain is probably from holding your mouth open for a long time.  It can put a terrible strain on the muscles down the sides of your neck.  Same with jaw pain.  Holding your mouth open can be stressful.

Rinse your mouth with warm salt water (1/4 tsp per 8oz warm water).  That will help with any pain that might be in your gums from the cleaning and warm compresses on your jaw and neck will help with the muscle strain.

The red spots on your tongue can be caused by dry mouth.  Having your mouth open for the length of cleaning time would dry out your tongue and irritate the papilla (taste buds) on it.

Good luck.  All this will pass with some time.  Don't forget to keep those teeth very clean now so the infection doesn't come back.

Best to you,
Gellia
