gum soreness

The past 3 days I have had pain in a few spots in my gums, mostly between the third and fourth teeth on the top and the bottom, as well as general soreness of the gums. I can feel on the back of my teeth with my toungue where it seems the  gum tissue has been pushed back, forming a little lump inbetween the teeth.  On the gum in between the lower teeth it looks as though there is a bruise almost ibetween the gums.  I have no cavities etc but I haven't been to the dentist in almost a year.  Should I wait 3 o so more das to see if the inflammation goes down?

I think it is time you made an appointment to see your dentist.Yes it certainly can be gingivitis.

ps. could it be the onset of gingivitis?
