impacted wisdom tooth

I had an impacted wisdom tooth removed.
Since then I cannot feel half my tongue , teeth and lip

The doctor even inserted a gauze inside before stitching me up.
The gauze is somewhat poking out
What is going to happen now? Will I get my sensation back
and what about the gauze. I can taste its medicine like taste in my mouth
Will it be ok
Will it dissolve on its own ?
Please help

I need answers, my doctor is not available for another 4 days :(
