I think you should definatley call the doctor who is treating you. I don't think you should ask for prescription pain medicines because I have seen lots of people get addicted to them. Try using Motrin because it is an anti-inflammatory med. When ever you have your teeth extracted you should have an immediate denture placed in your mouth before you even leave the office. The main reason being that you will swell after the surgery, and you won't be with out teeth. Usually you will visit the dentist that made the dentures for you, or if the same dentist that made them took your teeth out, the next day. Keeping in mind that you left them in since the surgery. The dentist then removes them and the soft liner placed in the denture to make a more custom fit. Then a new soft liner is put into the dentures and trimmed back to make a more retentive denture. If you did not have the dentures placed at the time you had your teeth removed you maybe experiencing some swelling and then this will make the dentures not fit and cause sore spots in your mouth. As far as the bone shaving situation. I'm not sure where that was done and why that was not done at the time your teeth were removed. Now your mouth will need to heal from the recent treatment you have just received. You may want to let your mouth heal for a few days and then have your dentures re-evaluated to see if they will work for you or not? Some people are not meant for a complete denture because of their bone structure or lack there of. If your finances allow you may want to consider implants with an over-denture. Sounds like you may be in for a long road to recovery. Be patient and make educated decisions. After all this is your mouth and no one knows what it feels like, but you. You may hve a long road to recovery so be patient!! Good luck!
I would suggest that you either call or visit the dentist for pain medication. Also an explanation of why you might be in so much discomfort.
