jaw pain from fry socket or something else

Never had issues with my teeth. Started to get so much pain and finally went to the dentist. I have a fear of going to the dentist. He was supposed to cater to cowards as his ad in the phone book said! Anyway, he wasnt very personable and said that I needed a tooth extraction. So I had a pre mollar extraction. A few days later a had pain in the mouth that was really bad and some jaw pain. I called they siad it sounded like a dry socket and that I could come in to have it looked at or stick with the pain until it goes away. They also gave me an antibiotic just in case I had an infection going.. Well its been 10 days the inside of my mouth is pretty much better for the exception of some throbbing and discomfort but it is livable however I HAVE SUCH SEVERE JAW PAIN I feel like I cant function. Its both sides and it feels horrible. I do have all of the symtoms of TMJ but my jaw has never been in the pain it has been in. Does this sound like this could be dry socket related or poss. TMJ?? Could anyone give me some remedies to ease TMJ discomfort? I have two kids and its just brutal. I take the max dosage on tylenol and advil daily which isnt good, heat works but as soon as I take it off its back again. I have a tens until that I use for my back and read online it could be used to treat TMJ I tried it and the pain was worse!! I am desperate I hope there is someone out there that can give me some advice.

It does not sound like it isnot a dry socket at this point. Usually the dry socket occurs two or three days post extraction with acute pain and needs to be packed with a sedative material. The fact that you are having bilateral pain in your TMJ areas I don't think it is associated with the extraction. My suggestion is that you see an oral surgeon as soon as you can for a more definitive diagnosis. You should not be in that much discomfort.
