jaw pain

jaw pain

I have been having a jaw pain on the left lower part and since there is no teeth there except a solitary wisdom tooth, I am wondering what could it be?  I only eight teeth (molar/wisdom on either side and two canines on either side with adjoining teeth, bottom center teeth - 2- removed due to genetic malformation) and I am wondering it bone loss or something else could be the problem.  I was treated several times prior for periodontal disease.   I am 50 years old and my uppers are all intact, just no bottom and I do not have dentures (can't afford them and no insurance) so maybe that is the reason it hurts?  Please someone let me know.  thx. yo

If there is no hard and soft tissue pathology identified by clinical exam and image study.the source of pain is probably myofascial trigger point pathology. Seeing a tmj specialist is advised.
