left tonge swollen after wisdom teeth extraction

I had 4 wisdom teeth extracted 4 days ago under i.v. sedation. Both sides of my mouth became swollen after the procedure, as was expected. Now, both sides of my cheeks are almost normal sized however the left side of my tongue has remained swollen to the point that I still cant eat soft foods and can only sip drinks. Is the continuous swelling of only one side of the tongue normal, when the other parts of my mouth seem to be receding? Or is it too early to tell? Is it possible that my dentist accidentally anesthetized a nerve in my tongue to permanently be swollen?

Probably not likely that the tongue is swollen from the anesthetic.  Is it actually swollen or does it feel swollen?  You may want to follow up with your dentist to see whats going on.  It may be trauma if its actually swollen or possibly an infection.  If it isn't swollen, it may be some trauma or injury to your nerve.
