mercury removal

by jack333295, Sep 22, 2008 07:19PM
I just received your reply that there may be some silver amalgam filling under a crown if the crowned tooth needed to be built up and and amalgam filling was used.  If that amalgam filling is present under the crown isn't it pretty much sealed off?  In your opinion would you recommend removing the crown to get the amalgam or just leave the crown alone?  I am having the amalgam removed due to possible allergy.  I am thinking that the crown is sealed so mercury is not leaking out.

If the crowned tooth is asymptomatic, do nothing.
